Recruitment night!

Well folks another fun filled recruitment night has come to an end! Thank God! So let me give ya run down of what I did and how it turned out. So tonight there was a basketball game at CEU. Of course it was CEU and their opponent was Snow. We figured it would be a good night, because its a good rivalry. Anyway, CEU worked with us and we purchased 300 bags of popcorn to give to the fans! So I took contact cards and Brochures and attached these to the bags of popcorn..... yeah do have any idea how long it takes to staple 300 cards to popcorn bags.... well... its about 45 min per 100 bags! On top of that I had to fill these 300 bags! that took 4 of us 2.5 hours. yeah so I put in some time for this event... and its sad to say I had no success! I gave away all of the bags, but it's sad to say that people we only interested in the free popcorn. Yes, i wasn't able to have any type of conversation with anyone and no turn in a contact card.... well I guess I can say it was a learning experence! I have another event scheduled for next week, hopefully it goes a little better.... well it's been a long day, after all it started at midnight this morning... so in three hours I will be up for 24 hours straight... needless to say... it's time for bed! late

Looking for a Routine

Wanted: a schedule that has some type of route to it. This may include a regular sleep schedule, a diet consiting of non microwavable food, and a job that has you work during regular working hours, (the hours between 12 am and 4 am are reserved for sleeping, but feel free to add more if you like).

well if ya haven't noticed im growing weary of no routine. I admit that I am a beast of burnden, I will preform the same routine over and over and be perfectly happy. This semester has been nothing but routine thusfar, and it doesn't look to be improving any time soon..... so is it safe to say that my routine is not having a routine? MAN THAT SUCKS, but what can ya do.... Anyway, just a little advice to anyone who is applying for the STEPS program. The application deadline is March 10, so start working on it now, you only have about 8 tests to take and paper work that doesn't seem to have an end...... so good luck, i know i'll need it.

Poetry Writing.......

So I just have one thought tonight.... who in the hell would have thought that poetry writing would be so damn hard!!!! Yeah, I have to take poetry writing, so I figured I might as well take it and get it over with, and I have to say it is rough. Poetry never has been my forte', but I have to say I enjoy reading it, some of it, more than writing it. So I'm going to share my first poem of the semester that has some type of substance. Hope ya enjoy it, if ya don't sorry. As hard as it is it is a way for me to release some thoughts.... and i have to say i have new appreciation for poets.....


Meeting my Savior at a Coal Yard

His decent - left a billowing cloud of black dust
lingering in the air. I walked through it to
reach Him offering Him my greetings
with a scabbed and calloused hand.
His brown-grey brows crinkled into a V,
his piercing green eyes looking down on me.

Folding his arms tightly, He left my
Hand holding nothing but the air He allowed
me breathe. “I don’t think I know you,
but I’m sure you know Me”. Replying, i said,
“i’m Your servant, have been for years”.
You see, there’s too many of you,

I can’t get to know all of you”.
His radiant hand swept across the yard,
high lighting the coal trucks, each hauling
enough black gold to support man for a year.
“I have built up all you see, I have made man
and given him purpose in life”. I thought,

this Man is my savior. He who gives me all
I have with the thud of his check signing stamp”.
I was not edified. His words elevated himself
above all, and he ascended, just as he came:
in a cloud of billowing dust. It hung in the air

mingling with my blood, my sweat, and
the stolen breathe in my burning lungs.
Conversion came to my mind: My labor,
my blood and my pain has built his creation.
The sacrifice of my body and soul
Has given him all that he has.

Sick of every last flake!!!!

Ok, so I don't know about all of you but I am sick and tired of the snow!!! Ya know, I use to love the snow and I still do, to a certain extent. Snow should be reserved for the month of December, given Christmas and all, but after that it needs to get the hell out of dodge! Thinking about it, yeah, it provides us with water, it makes things look pretty and clean, and it is fun to play in (or at least it use to be). But really is it worth all the trouble? Yeah, so I have to work in the snow often, hence my current attitude towards this miserable mess. Just to let ya know, I'm a tire guy while I'm finishing school, which means I get to go work along side the road, up in the mountains, down on the desert or any other god forsaken place where a tire blows out on a truck! Yesterday I was lucky enough to get called up to Nine Mile Canyon, at 3 in the morning in a snow storm! And guess what else, I had to go work on the snow plow which meant the roads had not been touched!!! GRRRRR! Needless to events like this increase my blood pressure as well as my animosity towards the snow! I'm sure that one day i will enjoy the winter and the snow again, but for the time being it just needs to GO AWAY!!!!

The swing of things.

Well, its that time of year again so we know that we have to get back into the swing of things. Like many of you I took some time away from everything and attempted to relax during the break. Well, it was somewhat relaxing and somewhat stressful, but so is life. You really don't get a break away from all of your stress. So now that I am a week into the semester, I faced the hard fact that it is time to get back to work. I kind of look at myself as a boulder sitting on the edge of a cliff. It his big, and lumpy, and stubborn as all hell, but once a forced is acted upon to tip it over the edge the ferocity is unstoppable until it reaches the end of it path. So.... this week i rested on the edge and the homework was the force that pushed me over the edge. It is now time to get things going, and get back into the swing of things full force. I wish all of you good luck with this semester! I know that I will need it!

Sleep Schedule!

Hey they folks! how goes it tonight? I have to say that things are getting better by the day for me. Although the last couple of days put me to the test. Yes, pun intended. Thus far I have two finals taken care and three to to go. The last one that i knocked down took its toll on me. Somehow I managed to pull a 41 hour day. Yeah, I spent the whole night writing a paper for my greek history class, then went to work, came home, showered, went to school, came home and finshed the paper i started the previous night, and submitted it. After the submission I really can't remember what happened, but my wife woke me after i passed out at my computer desk, which was around 9 oclock. So after that I went to bed and somehow managed to sleep through my alarm. It really is pretty easy to do when your shift starts at 4 in the morning, but to be honest those 5 and half hours of sleep was pure extacy! Anyway, i believe that I will have the rest of my finals taken care no later than wednesday! I think the thing that I am looking forward to is...... a regular sleep schedule. I still have to be to work at 4 but at least I won't have homework keeping me up all hours of night. Needless to say I am ready for a break, it's kind of sad when you consider working 8 hours a day a vactation, but I am really looking for to working and coming home to relax and catch up on some personal reading. The ups and downs in fantasy!

Ok, so I have had some great success in my fantasy football leagues this year! In fact, and I don't mean to brag, but I am sitting in first place in all three of my leagues, but I face other challenges as the league commissioner. For example, some of the owners have decided to take advantage of teams that are no longer competitors. Yeah, how lame is that?! They have preyed upon new players and have traded "crap" player for "superstars". So now their teams are stacked. So now I am forced to take action, and let it be known that my actions are swift and brutal! The penalty for "unfair" trades are: the reversal of the trade, and a docking of 10 points, and not just for one week but two! Any of you that have played fantasy football knows that 10 points can make or break a team! Man, people just do not understand integrity! Yeah, part of fantasy football is injuries! YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT! But you CANNOT take advantage of a weaker player! You cannot trade Tom Brady for Ryan Fitzpatrick!!!!!! Yeah, this isn't a big deal to many people, but it is to me! Therefore I must rule with an iron fist and punish those who prey on the weak!
So anyway.... this is great because I am winning in all my leagues, and have maintained my integrity, and I expect everyone else to do the same! Granted 250 bucks is a good chunk of change, but you still have to earn it, without preying on the weak!! GRRRRR! Now I have to take the roll of "Asshole" and reject such trades.
